Sentence mechanics¶
Pick the right subject. The element that really matters most
If too much info, break to several sentences
Don’t use more than two time elements
Think of info the reader already know: don’t repeat it
Info the reader knows: use it to connect, to be meaningful and relevant
Don’t use vague words. Be specific (“impacts” is vague, may be positive or negative, doesn’t explain what)
Don’t repeat the same preposition in the same sentence
Don’t let the reader “Stay put” too much with backgrounders, “while” etc
Avoid cognitive load until the main point - prefer topic prominence
A modifier should be placed where it’s clear what it modifies, and that the modification makes sense
